Jadiann Thompson Joining WHDH as Weekend Evening Anchor

Jadiann Thompson has been named the weekend evening anchor at WHDH-TV NBC 7 in Boston, she will also report during the week.

In an email to staff on Wednesday, WHDH news director Linda Miele said she was "happy to announce" that Jadiann was joining the 7 News team. She also said that Jadiann was "excited to be coming to Boston."

A three time Emmy award-winning journalist, Jadiann joins WHDH from KSHB-TV NBC 41 in Kansas City where she has anchored the 6pm newscast, and reported for other broadcasts for past two years. Two of her Emmy Awards were earned while she was in Kansas City - one for best anchor, the other for her story covering the effects of the FAA possibly loosening restrictions on in-flight cell phone use.

Before KSHB, Jadiann was a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor at KPHO-TV CBS 5 in Phoenix, AZ. During her time in Phoenix, Jadiann says she covered some of the best stories of her career. "From chasing down the country's self-proclaimed toughest sheriff, Joe Arpaio, to covering the Jodi Arias trial. I was also in the middle of controversial stories about immigration reform and was part of team coverage on the anniversary of the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and was on the front lines for two weeks covering the Wallow Fire, Arizona's largest wildfire in state history."

Jadiann got her start in television news at KTWO-TV ABC 2 in Casper, WY. She joined KTWO first as a multimedia journalist, and was promoted to executive producer and main anchor of the stations 5pm, 6pm & 10pm newscasts within a year. She also spent time as the assistant news director at the station.

A native of Northwest Arkansas, Jadiann grew up working at her father’s landscaping business. She is a 2007 graduate of the University of Arkansas where she studied broadcast journalism. During her time in college, Jadiann interned on Capitol Hill. She also spent a brief time teaching ESL to students during the day, and English to adults at night in Madrid, Spain after college.

Jadiann starts at WHDH next month.
